NEWS : Have you not seen that Allah drives the clouds, then joins them together, then piles them one on top of the other, so that you see the rain pouring out of them? He sends down from the sky mountains of clouds with hail in them, and He causes it to strike whom He wills, and He turns it away from whom He wills; and the flash of His lightning almost dazzles the eyes.

NEWS : The invention of radar

Before the invention of radar, there were many different experiments of this kind. In 1904, in order to prevent ship accidents during sea voyages, Christian H. Ismeyer developed a system for locating objects using continuous radio waves. John Logie Baird, a Scotsman, succeeded in identifying substances using electromagnetic waves in 1926. German Rudolf Kühnold invented a device for the detection of objects by radio waves in 1933. After all these inventions, Robert Watson – Watt invented the first radar that both detects and measures the distance of the object in 1935. It was only after this invention that the stages affecting the formation of rain could be fully understood. The Qur’an describes how the rain falls 1304 years ago.

After reaching the knowledge of how the rain falls, the researchers analysed how it is formed and found that it consists of three main phases.

The formation of wind, the formation of clouds and the appearance of raindrops. All these phases are explained in another verse as follows.

Allah (swt) says:

Allah sends the winds, so He lifts up a cloud and scatters it in the sky as He wills, and He makes it in pieces, and then you see the rain coming out of it. And when He gives it at last to whom He wills of His servants, they rejoice.[238]

The expression “Allah sends the winds…” is explained scientifically as follows: The foam in the salty ocean waters bursts with the formation of air bubbles and is transferred to the sky as water droplets by means of winds. These water droplets form clouds with ice crystals or mixtures thereof. In the verse that continues as “so He lifts up a cloud and scatters it in the sky as He wills and makes it in pieces…”, the scientific data of the second universe are presented: The drops of water in the clouds are as small as 0.01 – 0.02 mm in size and remain suspended in the air. Then these drops of water spread to the sky as they wish and the sky begins to be covered with clouds. The verse that continues, “Finally you see the rain pouring out of it”, refers to the last stage that completes the formation of rain: These water droplets, which are scattered in the sky, form raindrops after condensation. After this formation, the raindrops become heavier than the air and begin to fall to the ground.
