NEWS : First manned spaceflight to land on the lunar surface

In fact, it was not the space shuttle Apollo 11 that first went to the Moon. There had been two flights, but no man had ever landed on the surface of the Moon. This third flight was a first because it was the first time a man had set foot on the Moon. The verse clearly foretells that this will be done. It also gives a message to the societies that carried out this action and to those who did not submit to the Creator of the worlds despite knowing that this action was carried out.

The Holy Qur’an gave this news 1357 years ago.

As it is known, the moon is a satellite of the Earth. Satellite is the name given to another celestial body that revolves around a celestial body. All planets in the solar system are satellites of the Sun, and other celestial bodies such as the Moon are satellites of planets. The Holy Qur’an not only mentions the moon landing, but also clearly states that it is a satellite orbiting the Earth and the way it rotates.

Allah (swt) says:

And We have measured the moon with a number of phases. It revolves like an old and crooked palm branch.[207]

As seen in the verse, the Holy Qur’an explains the position of the moon, which we call a satellite, as “we have measured it with a number of phases”. The shape of the moon as it revolves around the earth is described by scientists as moving in a curved orbit. This is described by the Holy Qur’an with the word “urjun”, which means a crooked palm branch. The Qur’an also draws attention to the oldness of the palm branch that is likened to it and explains that “it turns like an old and crooked palm branch”. Because the old palm branch is thinner and more crooked than the new one.
