3-110. You are a good nation for mankind, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil and believing in Allah. Had the People of the Book also believed, it would certainly have been good for them. There are those among them who believe, but most of them are transgressors.

Yes… As mentioned before, Allah (swt) has brought out a new community and this community is a good community from among the people. This change was necessitated by the fact that other previous beliefs did not adhere to monotheism despite all the prophets sent. If only the People of the Book had believed… Surely this would have been the best for them. What a compassionate approach. But they have abandoned tawheed and have deviated into misguidance and openly committed sins. How can they be in good when they are like this… But there are those among them who believe. They are not all one.

3-113/115 They are not all one. Among the People of the Book there is a people who stand up (in prayer) and recite the Verses of Allah at night, prostrating themselves. They believe in Allah and the Last Day and enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil and compete in good deeds. These are the righteous ones. Whatever they do of good, they will not be deprived of it. Allah is Knower of the pious.

Yes, not all of them are one. As far as we understand from the previous verse, there are those who make prostrations and recite verses, even if they are not in the majority but in the minority. These also believe and do good deeds with the intention of good. These are the righteous ones. And our Lord will not deprive them of goodness because of what they do. Allah knows who they are among the People of the Book and whether they still exist or not. He is the All-Knowing.

3-199. Surely among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah, and in what has been sent down to you and in what has been sent down to them, as those who have deep respect for Allah. They do not exchange a little for the verses of Allah. These have their reward with their Lord. Surely Allah is quick in reckoning.

For the part up to this point, we can say that it is clearly stated that among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and do righteous deeds. It does not discriminate all of them as good or bad, enemy or friend, based on hatred. As a matter of fact, even five of five brothers cannot be the same, it cannot be expected that all of a group or community will be the same. It means that Allah (swt) does not see them all as one. In this verse, it is mentioned that there are different groups among the People of the Book. They believe in the Holy Qur’an and their own holy book. The sign of these is that they do not consider the benefit in return for what the verses declare. With such a beautiful approach, our Lord shows an attitude against the mentality of totalism. Not all of them are the same, but there are those among them who are like this and that. There are also those who do not prefer what the verses declare, that is, those who do not prefer the benefit of the book they believe in. You also have such a Lord. That sincerity shown has its reward in the sight of Allah. He is the swift reckoner. These things are never difficult and complicated for Him.

Allah is the quick reckoner.
