According to the Holy Qur’an, the People of the Book -1- (Those who believed before…)
Since our aim is to explain Islam correctly and the cause is Islamophobia.
In that case, the first issue to be addressed should be how the book, which is the main source of religion, looks at those who do not believe in it.
By addressing the issue in this way, the best answer will be given to a mentality that burns itself and sees those who believe in it as enemies.
If so, considering that the largest majority of this group is the People of the Book, the first issue to be addressed should be “The People of the Book According to the Holy Qur’an”.
In fact, although explaining Islam as a concept should be a more prioritised start, this is information that can be accessed everywhere. And because of the special nature of the situation, it should at least be a priority to translate it into the languages in which the People of the Book live.
What does this book really say to the followers of other scriptures? Does it clearly say that they are to be killed, hated, shunned, shunned and considered enemies? Or does it make it conditional on certain terms and conditions for them to be good or bad, as is the potential of every group or community. I will publish our study by indicating the verse numbers so that the sincere people of the Book can check whether this is the meaning it carries from other translations whenever they wish.
Yes…… Then we can enter our subject. What does it say to us Muslims and how does it look at the People of the Book, good and bad?
2-62. Verily, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous deeds, then their reward is with Allah. There is no fear for them and they shall not grieve.
This verse was revealed in response to a question about the status of those who believed in Allah in previous times. Because the last Shari’ah that came with the Messenger of Allah abolished other beliefs, and with the coming of the Holy Qur’an, the religion of Islam, which had begun with Adam (peace be upon him), was completed. However, there were many believers who could not witness these events at that time, or whose lives had ended in previous years, and who had suffered hardships for their faith.
This question was asked to the Messenger of Allah by a former Christian who had recently converted to Islam. If they had been there, they would have been subject to you. But they could not reach, their lives did not last. And Allah (swt) gave the answer through such revelation. If we look at it from the point of view of our subject, it means that whoever does righteous deeds among these communities who believe in Allah and the Last Day, they will be rewarded with rewards and they will not be sad.
This is because the Shari’ah and belief in force at that time enabled those people to do righteous deeds and believe within the community they were in. Unless Allah creates a new community, people cannot be held responsible for acting within the existing group. The servants are obliged to the extent of their means and cognition.
